Internships

Illumination Arts welcomes interns from local and national colleges. We generally prefer that students begin seeking internships after completing their sophomore year in college. We do accept interns who would like to earn college credit for their internship, but that is not required. For more information about your college's internship policy or to inquire about earning credit, please contact your advisor or your school's career services center.

Job Title: PUBLISHING INTERN
Work Schedule: The schedule is flexible for 10-40 hours per week for two months to one year. Hours can be arranged according to individual circumstances. This position is unpaid, but travel expenses are covered. Interns may have the opportunity to attend book shows.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assisting in writing promotional copy, letters and news releases
• Assisting in the editing process of book manuscripts, book flap copy
• Reviewing submitted manuscripts
• Placing phone calls, mailing letters or review copies of current books
• Learning the procedures for filling orders, creating invoices and packing lists
• Updating information in areas such as book awards, reviews, etc.
• Office duties, including filing, faxing, answering phones, and shipping

Job Requirements:

• Majors preferred: English, Journalism, Marketing
• Desire to work in publishing or related fields
• Detail oriented
• Responsible
• Computer skills
• Ability to see tasks through from start to finish

*Note: It is possible to have an internship focused primarily on marketing.
